Big Boat Challenge moves away from Whitsun in 2013

Since its start in 2009, Kerteminde Yacht Club has arranged the Big Boat Challenge every year during the Whitsun days. The schedule for Big Boat Challenge will be changed in 2013.

Year 2013 the regatta will be arranged 14-16th June

The change of schedule is due to several reasons – among others our ambition to maintain Big Boat Challenge as an international Big Boat Regatta in Denmark. Another reason is a newly agreed coordination with KYC and Kieler Woche. We hope this will lead to closer cooperation with mutual benefits for our Yacht Clubs and the Big Boat Sailors in Northern Europe.

We have agreed with KYC that the schedule for Big Boat Challenge in the future will be in the weekend before Kieler Woche - which will be the third last full weekend in June.

The regatta in 2013, will include both the international rating ORCi and the Danish rating DH.
The competitors will be asked to choose their rating, when notifying their entry.

Beside change of schedule for the regatta in 2013, we have informed the Danish Big Boat Series that Big Boat Challenge no longer will be part of the series. The Series was started in 2012 including 4 regattas in Denmark.

Our experience from this season has concluded that less value was added to both BBC and the Danish competitors through the series.

The race result can as usual be forwarded til Danish Bigboat Series and Baltic Circuit.
